Funk You

“A jammy funky band with great vocals. What else do you need in your life?!”
- Andy Frasco

“The band, whose undeniable chemistry can be detected from the constant laughter and inside jokes being pitched in the background, offers musical contributions to form the mix of R&B, soul and progressive rock making up the band’s sound.”
- Sarah Gardiner, The Red & Black

For nearly 15 years, Funk You has been crafting a distinct blend of soul, rock, and funk that reflects both their Southern roots and an ever-evolving musical curiosity. Formed in December 2011 in Augusta, GA, and now based in the thriving music city of Atlanta, the eight-piece ensemble has built a reputation for thoughtful, high-energy performances that balance tight arrangements with room for exploration. Their unmistakable chemistry, infectious grooves, and commitment to the craft have made them one of the most exciting live acts in contemporary funk.

Funk You’s journey began with the back-to-back release of Funk You (2011) and Funk You II (2012), laying the foundation for a loyal grassroots following across the Southeast. Their breakout moment arrived in 2016 with the release of Apparitions and its standout single “She’s So High,” which gained regional radio traction and surpassed 1.5 million plays on Spotify—marking a pivotal leap onto the national stage.

Over the years, the band has performed at some of the country’s most beloved festivals, including Joshua Tree Music Festival, Hulaween, Sweetwater 420 Festival, Peach Music Festival, and Summer Camp Music Festival, and shared the stage with legendary acts such as The James Brown Band, Gov’t Mule, Galactic, and Pigeons Playing Ping Pong. Whether headlining a club or lighting up a festival stage, Funk You’s shows are collaborative, improvisational, and brimming with raw energy—often featuring surprise sit-ins from fellow musicians and friends.

In 2021, Funk You celebrated a decade of music with the release of Moving Forward, a seven-track studio album recorded at Atlanta's Prana Recording Studios and mixed by Clark and Andy Headland. The project was met with widespread acclaim, with Live for Live Music calling it “a funky, rockin’ good time...” that showcased the band’s sonic evolution and studio finesse.

With new music and collaborations on the horizon, Funk You continues to grow their community of listeners—one show, one groove, and one shared moment at a time. Grateful for the road behind them and fired up for what lies ahead, they remain rooted in the joy of creating music that moves both body and soul.
